Meet the Ocean Sun Team

Kristian Tørvold was appointed CEO of Ocean Sun in 2024, bringing over 15 years of experience from the renewable energy and offshore industries across Northeast Asia. He has played a key role in expanding Ocean Sun’s presence in the region and previously served as Finance Manager at Modex Group. Kristian has also led international market expansion for several startups. He holds an MSc in Finance and Economics from Fudan University in China.

Karl Lawenius has served as Chief Financial Officer at Ocean Sun since 2020. He brings over eight years of experience in mergers and acquisitions and business development, working with growth companies both in consulting and corporate roles.

Kristin Husby Mork joined Ocean Sun in 2025 as Chief Commercial Officer. She brings over 20 years of experience in the energy sector, with leadership roles in business development, commercialization, and renewable energy. Prior to joining Ocean Sun, she served as Commercial Director at TechnipFMC, where she led the company’s new energy initiatives, including CCS, offshore wind, and hydrogen. She also held several leadership positions at Equinor, where she played a key role in establishing the company’s offshore wind operations in Asia.

Carl Petter Lehne joined Ocean Sun in 2024 as Chief Operating Officer. He brings extensive experience in managing complex infrastructure projects, having previously led the Industry and Infrastructure Group at Metier. He has also held key roles at Multiconsult. His expertise in project development and execution is instrumental in scaling Ocean Sun’s operations.

David Mikal Knutsen joined Ocean Sun in 2024 as Chief Product Officer. With over a decade of experience in the maritime industry, he co-founded and served as CTO at ECOnnect Energy AS, where he played a key role in developing the world’s first floating LNG transfer system. His deep expertise in marine innovation and product development is instrumental in advancing Ocean Sun’s floating solar technology.

Are Gløersen serves as Director South East Asia at Ocean Sun, where he leads the company’s operations and business development across the ASEAN region. He is responsible for pilot installations, regional partnerships, and supply chain development. Are brings extensive international experience from leadership roles in technology and engineering companies, including as CEO of Comlight AS and Director at Tronrud Engineering.

Du Zhongyi is the General Manager for China at Ocean Sun based in Shanghai, Mr. Du plays a key role in leading Ocean Sun’s operations and strategic partnerships in the Chinese market. With a strong background in renewable energy and international business, Mr. Du contributes to expanding the company’s innovative solar solutions across Asia.

Sigmund Bragstad is responsible for technology certification at Ocean Sun, where he plays a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and compliance of the company’s innovative floating solar solutions. With a background in engineering and renewable energy, Bragstad contributes to the technical validation and performance assessment of Ocean Sun’s systems, including participation in international research and development initiatives.

Alexander Millan Eide is part of the product design team at Ocean Sun, where he contributes to the development of innovative floating solar solutions. His work focuses on optimizing the design and functionality of Ocean Sun’s patented technology, ensuring it meets the demands of diverse environments and global energy markets.

Umesh Pawar is a Project Manager at Ocean Sun, based in Norway. He brings valuable experience from previous roles at Mitcon, Arbutus Consultants Pvt. Ltd., and Integrated Consultants in Pune. At Ocean Sun, he contributes to the planning and execution of floating solar projects, leveraging his background in engineering and project management to support the company’s global renewable energy initiatives.

Farhan Ajiwaskita is a Senior Naval Architect at Ocean Sun, based in Norway. He holds a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Universitas Indonesia. Before joining Ocean Sun, he gained experience as an Assistant Marine Surveyor at Bureau Veritas and later worked at thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions in procurement and logistics. At Ocean Sun, he contributes to the design and execution of floating solar projects, focusing on structural and hydrodynamic calculations of the system to support the company’s renewable energy initiatives.

John Raffy Tunod is a project manager at Ocean Sun, based in Quezon City, National Capital Region, Philippines . He is a solar and substation engineer , educated from Garcia College of Technology, Kalibo, Aklan. In Ocean Sun, he contributes significantly with his knowledge to the development, construction and supervision of floating solar system.
